It’s that time of year again, the time to welcome autumn and bid a tearful goodbye to summer. Fortunately, there are several fall fests and other events to soften the blow. If you live in Longmont, you can choose from many options, including the following:
Boulder Fall Fest
The Boulder Fall Fest is a three-day autumn festival (Sept. 22-24th) that includes local food offerings, a beer/wine/margarita garden, live music entertainment, family activities, and the Firefly Handmade Market along Pearl Street. The latter features products from over 100 curated artisans. Admission is free.
Oktoberfest
Longmont’s Oktoberfest, sponsored by the Longmont Humane Society, takes place at Thompson Park on September 23. While this festival honors beer (naturally), it also includes food (plus pretzels), live music, and various beverage selections. Toast to the town and spend a fun afternoon with friends and family.
Paws in the Park
Paws in the Park is an annual 5K FUNdraiser that invites runners of all types (from the serious to those who identify as walkers). It takes place on October 7th at the Boulder County Fairgrounds Park and strives to meet a goal of $50,000 raised for animal welfare. Signing up and setting up your fundraising page is easy. Day of the Dead
Celebrate the Day of the Dead on Saturday, October 14th between 11am to 3pm in Downtown Longmont at 4th Avenue and Main Street. This street festival features music and dance performances, art and craft activities, food options, cultural education, business altars, and the Gigantes Procession (costumed figures from folklore). Event attendees are encouraged to park downtown or at the Longmont Museum.
Fall Farm Hop & Fall Fest
The Fall Farm Hop & Fall Fest ushers in the arrival of changing leaves and cooler weather on October 29th from 10am to 4pm at Yellow Barn Farm off the North Foothills Highway. This festival includes a tour of the Elk Run Farm and Yellow Barn Farm, a vendor market, live music, and food. Learn about planet-positive farming and regenerative agriculture while celebrating the season!
Parting with summer doesn’t need to be such sweet sorrow. Remember what you love about fall by taking part in a festival or event and celebrating the season.
