With so many concerts coming to Longmont, city
officials might consider renaming the town Songmont, at least until the summer
ends. Whether you’re a fan of old-school music, modern-day tunes, or all that
jazz, chances are you can find something for your listening pleasure. A few of
the options coming down the performance pike include:
Mojomama Rockin the Farm
Mojomama, a blues band that hails from
Longmont, is playing at the LaJoyia Farm on May 14th. This event was such
a success in 2021 that they’re bringing it back again. The farm will serve
snacks and its homemade peppermint iced tea. Space is limited; there are only 75 tickets available and even fewer parking
spots. Bring a picnic dinner, a lawn chair, or a blanket and see what happens
when rural life meets rock and roll.
The Long Run
Eagles Tribute Band
Do you want to take it to the limit? Are you
looking for a peaceful, easy feeling? Then you’re in for a treat on May 14th. The Long Run, an Eagles tribute band that
began in 2009, is playing at the Dickens Opera House on Main Street in
Longmont.
The Long Run has previously played at the
Paramount Theatre, Red Rocks, and all over the Four Corners region. If you’re a
fan of Don Henley and Glen Frey, they’re a must-see act and a can’t-miss good
time.
Rhythm on the
River
The Rhythm on the River Festival takes place in Longmont on July 8th and 9th. The
scheduled lineup includes the 89s, Many Mountains, Taylor Shae, Augustus, and
Sturtz (among others).
Of course, this event is
more than meets the ears; it also features a plethora of food and beverage
vendors, a 5k river run, an outdoor adventureland and other child-centric
activities, arts and crafts, a mobile arcade, and duck races.
50th Annual RockyGrass Festival
While technically in Lyons, which is a
twelve-mile jaunt from Longmont, RockyGrass is the epitome of a bluegrass
festival. Nestled between rusty red cliffs and looming trees, it invites
patrons to go for the music and stay for the atmosphere.
This three-day festival kicks off July 29th
and features performances by the Punch Brothers, the Yonder Mountain String
Band, the Becky Buller Band, Uncommon Ritual, the Tray Wellington Band, and
more.
Rocky Mountain Folks Festival
The Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (also in Lyons)
takes place August 12th-14th. With a lineup that includes the Indigo Girls,
Yola, Ani DiFranco, Sarah Jarosz, and Bruce Hornsby, this festival is filled
with up-and-comers as well as superstars of music’s past. It’s the perfect time
to enjoy the sounds of the season along the St. Vrain River. Concert goers are
encouraged to double as campers and stay on the grounds for a fully immersive
experience.
From blues concerts to cover bands, the plains
are alive with the sound of music. Get your tickets and tune in to summer time.
