Our Favorite Refreshing Summer Drinks

While winter might belong to cocoa and fall might cater to pumpkin spiced lattes, summertime allows ice-cold refreshments to take center stage. However, with so many types of drinks and recipes available, it can be hard to determine where to start. Consider raising a glass for the following creations:

Peach Fizz

This peach fizz concoction uses fresh peaches, lime juice, caster sugar, raspberries, sparkling water, ice, and mint leaves. It takes 20 minutes to make and is a favorite among kids with a craving for the sweet flavor and juiciness peaches provide. If you want to up the ante for the 21+ group, add a half cup of gin to the recipe.

Watermelon Lemonade Slushie

This watermelon lemonade slushie brings the neighborhood lemonade stand to the next level. While it isn’t a quick make, taking up to 3 hours (including downtime waiting for the watermelon to freeze), it’s a drink that tends to be worth the wait. The watermelon mixes with sugar, basil, and lemon juice to make a delightful summer treat.

Piña Colada

If you like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain, then this drink is a must-make. Our favorite recipe uses traditional ingredients, such as pineapple juice, pineapple, and coconut cream, and offers a simple way to make one of the most popular warm-weather libations. While it calls for rum (both dark and light) you can make a virgin option, as well.

Whipped Lemonade

Whipped lemonade has quickly become an internet fad and a new favorite among folks of all ages. It’s made with condensed milk, heavy cream, lemon juice (or lemonade/lemonade powder), whipped cream, and a lemon slice. Vodka is an optional ingredient as well, an alluring choice for the 21+ age group.

Bailey’s Smores Float

Bailey's s’mores float is a creamy and tasty option for adults looking to use those dusty handles of irish cream that have been sitting in their pantries for years. It uses chocolate syrup, crushed graham crackers, vanilla ice cream, chocolate milk, and marshmallows, in addition to liquor. This recipe can be made without alcohol, as well, and tends to be a favorite among little ones seeking a sugar rush.

Ice water, sun tea, and basic lemonade might be okay for a typical summer day, but these recipes can take your refreshments to the next level. Cheers to warm weather and cold drinks!
