The holidays have arrived! If you’re looking for some wintertime wonder and yuletide cheer amidst the hustle and bustle of a busy December, Longmont is the place to be! This tinsel town plays host to several holiday events, including the following:
Friday Festival
The Friday Festival takes place on Friday, December 13th, at Roosevelt Park. Attendees are invited to stroll around the park as thousands of festive lights illuminate it. Children (and adults, for that matter) can visit with Santa at the senior center or explore Santa’s workshop. Enjoy costumed characters, hot cocoa, fire pits, and holiday music. A new laser show will also take place at 7:45 PM.
Lights Parade
The Lights Parade rumbles along the streets of Downtown Longmont on Saturday, December 14th, at 5:00 PM. Watch twinkling and inventive floats as they travel down Kimbark Street and Main Street, and expect to see Santa Claus as the parade draws to a close.
St. John’s Christmas Market
St. John’s Christmas Market offers a festive day of shopping, eating, drinking, and general holiday merriment. Taking place on December 6th and 7th on Collyer Street, this event is free to attend and offers a prime opportunity to buy holiday decor and gifts. The event features 17 European-style Christmas booths full of handmade crafts, baked goods, jewelry, food, and authentic chimney cakes. Attendees can also take a horsedrawn carriage ride, meet Santa Claus, and enjoy beer and mulled wine.
Handcrafted Holiday Market
The eighth annual Handcrafted Holiday Market occurs December 14th and 15th at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. This market offers an eclectic selection, making it an excellent way to do some last-minute holiday shopping or find a unique gift for that hard-to-please person in your life. Shop for pottery, clothing, jewelry, artwork, winter apparel, toys, skincare products, paper goods, and more!
Ice Skating
Ice skating at Longmont Recreation Service’s Ice Pavillion in Roosevelt Park is a long-standing, seasonal tradition that invites skaters of all skill levels to lace up their blades. Whether you are good enough to toy with toepicks or need to hang on to a training aid, stop by and enjoy a wintertime favorite. The rink offers public skating hours, skating and hockey lessons, and private rentals.
You don’t have to spend all your time inside, decking the halls; Longmont is home to several fun events. Put on your yuletide best (or come in sweats) and make the season merry and bright.
